Open Water Course
Adventure doesn't have to wait! Now is a great time to learn to scuba dive. If you’ve always wanted to try scuba and experience unparalleled adventure, this is where it starts. Your first breath underwater is unforgettable, opening the door to a different world. The PADI Open Water Diver Course is the world’s most popular and widely recognized scuba class. The minimum age is 10, making scuba the perfect new adventure for your whole family!
The PADI Open Water Diver Course includes three phases, and you have options as to how and where you complete them.
- Phase 1 is knowledge development. The most popular option is PADI eLearning, so you can start digitally at your convenience. Then you will review what you have learned with your instructor. If you prefer to have a textbook you can choose the self-study and classroom option for this phase. Knowledge development is $195.
- In phase 2 you move to the swimming pool for confined water training sessions. You’ll master these skills and become a comfortable, confident scuba diver in 2-3 pool sessions. We keep classes small to adhere to social distancing guidelines. The pool dives are $205.
- In phase 3 you’ll do four open water scuba dives with your instructor. Most students complete these dives locally with us at a scuba lake for $150, but you can also choose to complete them on vacation anywhere in the world. Then you’re a certified scuba diver!

The staff at One Ocean Scuba will help you select the appropriate personal gear package for the kind of diving you will do. Trying this gear on before you buy it is important so we can help you be sure it's a perfect fit. Leaky masks and fins that pinch your toes are no fun! Personal gear packages, consisting of a mask, snorkel, boots and fins, are available at a student discount. We will provide the rest of the scuba gear you need for the course, including tanks, weights, regulators, buoyancy control device, and a wetsuit.
